The reason this is done is that I (Jeff) consider Daniel Barron's download license to be ridiculous. As an executive summary, he has GPL'd code which he is tired of not being recompensed for. Therefore, he tries to license downloads from his website. With the commercial products he already sells, this can be hard to understand, and speculation on my part would probably be grounds for libel or slander.

Thus, in accordance with the GPL, I make available unaltered copies of DansGuardian. Because md5 sums are not made available on dansguardian mirror sites, it can be difficult to verify that these are in fact untrojaned copies of the source. An easy way to verify your download is to use FreeBSD's distinfo file for their DansGuardian port.

To be clear: when I downloaded these files from DG authorized mirror sites, I was in compliance with his download license. I am putting them up for download with no license requirements at all, except the GPL contained in the tarballs.
